The Issue

We, the residents living near Journal Square PATH station, are requesting that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey conduct a formal review of current PATH train horn practices near dense residential areas.

We fully recognize the importance of rail safety and are NOT asking for the elimination of train horns.

However, many residents have experienced:
- excessive horn duration
- extremely high horn volume
- repeated late-night noise disturbances

As Jersey City continues rapidly developing high-density housing around PATH infrastructure, current horn practices deserve modernization and reevaluation.

We respectfully request that Port Authority study potential solutions including:
- reduced horn duration near stations
- directional horn technology
- lower-volume station-entry protocols
- late-night noise mitigation measures
- residential sound impact assessments

This is not an anti-transit movement.

We support PATH and public transportation. We simply believe modern infrastructure should evolve alongside modern residential communities.

Please help us encourage constructive dialogue between residents and Port Authority.
