Dr. Mary B. Vollaro is a professor and Department Head of Mechanical Engineering at Florida Polytechnic University. Dr. Vollaro has been at this University for many years and has been made responsible for the curriculum of multiple courses. Multiple students have come forward about her disorderly conduct toward them. These interactions often include scolding and telling them they will fail in life and their career and making inappropriate remarks. She has been "corrected" by the University for such behaviors multiple times, but they have continued. Constant complaints have shown up for her course, FLAME, which has not improved over the years. Dr. Vollaro adopts a "weeding out" attitude about the STEM educational journey and has openly stated that students should leave, give up, and overload themselves to burnout and mental exhaustion. She herself adopts this overloading of tasks, as she cannot complete basic tasks for students on time. We request that the University, rather than continue to promote and encourage her and her behavior, correct them effectively. She has been sent to anger management classes for her behavior. However, it has not changed. We hope this petition will be considered for students' success and mental health in the future.
