Request Mobile City Council To Approve An Additional Ambulance Service

Request Mobile City Council To Approve An Additional Ambulance Service
The Issue
Living in Mobile, Alabama, our community takes pride in the camaraderie and spirit that brings us together as not just residents, but as a family. However, the urgent need for faster and more efficient emergency medical services has become exceedingly apparent. As someone who resides here, the safety of each and every person in our area is not just a personal concern, but a communal priority. Every second counts when it comes to saving a life, and having adequate emergency services can make the difference in critical medical situations.
Currently, the city of Mobile relies on two limited ambulance services to aid Mobile Fire, Mobile County EMS is the sole provider outside of the city of Mobile’s city limits and also contacts both private ambulance services to run mutual aid to cover even the calls from citizens in the county, with emergencies across both the city and county our services are drowning, add in our growing population and the increasing demand for immediate medical assistance, this sole reliance on 2 private services is proving inadequate. Studies and data consistently show that response times are a crucial determinant in the survival and recovery rates of individuals experiencing medical emergencies. According to the American Heart Association, brain death and permanent death can occur within 4 to 6 minutes after a cardiac arrest, highlighting the pressing need for rapid EMS intervention.
By allowing another ambulance service to operate within Mobile, we can significantly reduce response times and increase the availability of life-saving resources. Moreover our current services have grown stagnant, the competition introduced by adding an additional service provider could enhance the quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of emergency medical services in our area. Other cities like Birmingham have benefitted from multiple EMS providers, facilitating swifter and more effective responses to emergencies & life saving emergency transfers from hospital to hospital.
For these reasons, we are formally requesting that the city council of Mobile approve and invite additional ambulance services to bolster our current emergency response system. By taking this step, we can ensure that everyone in our community receives the timely and competent medical care they deserve.
Please sign this petition to urge the Mobile City Council to prioritize our safety and well-being by expanding ambulance services in our area. Together, we can make Mobile a safer place for all its residents.
