Request GTHL to Refrain from Scheduling Playoff Games During March Break

Request GTHL to Refrain from Scheduling Playoff Games During March Break
The Issue
There is a growing concern among families within the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) about the scheduling of playoff hockey games during March Break. This period is traditionally marked as a time for families to take respite from school and other commitments, aiding in nurturing their bonds and creating memorable experiences that cherish the essence of family life. Sadly, the current practice is threatening this universally acknowledged family time.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Education, March Break is explicitly designed to provide families with the opportunity for recreation, travel, cultural experiences, and rest (source: Ontario Ministry of Education). Furthermore, research consistently underlines the importance of quality family time in enhancing children's wellbeing and academic performance (source: American Psychological Association).
By scheduling playoff games during March Break, GTHL potentially infringes on these valuable opportunities for family togetherness, as well as contributing to heightened stress levels for the young players attempting to juggle both commitments.
Thus, we appeal to the GTHL to reconsider their scheduling practices and refrain from having playoff games during March Break. We firmly believe that this move will garner appreciation from families, while maintaining the sportsmanship spirit among young players. To see this significant, family-focused change implemented, please sign our petition.
