Request for reduced fees for child accounts on Casting Networks
The Issue
To: Casting Networks : Request for Reduced Fees for Child Accounts (Ages 0–14)
We, the undersigned parents, guardians, and supporters of child performers, respectfully request that Casting Networks implement reduced, age-tiered subscription pricing for children under 15 years old. Current monthly fees disproportionately burden families of young children and limit equitable access to audition opportunities. We ask for two special pricing tiers: one for ages 0–5 and one for ages 6–14.
Why this change is necessary:
- Children under 5 face far fewer audition opportunities than older youth, yet are charged the same subscription fees.
- Child performers cannot hold jobs to offset costs; for many families acting is a hobby or developmental activity rather than a primary income source.
- Affordability is a crisis for many households and a $30 USD monthly fee per child is prohibitive for numerous families with multiple children or limited budgets.
- Young children require far fewer materials: typically no more than two photos and no profile videos for commercial work, so the full subscription feature set is unnecessary.
What we are asking:
- Implement more basic, discounted, age-based subscription rates for 0–5 and 6–14 year-olds.
- Consider a basic plan for young children that limits required uploads to two photos and excludes video hosting for commercial casting, lowering storage/processing costs accordingly.
- Provide a simple verification and transition process so families can easily enroll children in the correct tier.
As parents and advocates, we believe these changes will increase equitable access to casting opportunities, support family finances, and foster diversity in child casting pools. We urge Casting Networks to adopt age-appropriate pricing promptly. Please support this petition by signing below.
