Request for Immediate Meeting with Condo Board President and Board of Directors

The Issue

We, the undersigned unit owners of 68 Corporate Drive, Scarborough ON M1H 3H3  are formally requesting an immediate meeting with the President of the Board of Directors and the MTCC1143 Board to discuss urgent and ongoing issues affecting our community.

Despite repeated attempts through written communication (emails, hand-signed letters), our concerns have been unresolved. We are experiencing the following critical issues:

Lack of Communication and Transparency: The current property management company has consistently failed to provide explanations for decisions affecting the community and has actively avoided facilitating a meeting between the unit owners and the Board of Directors.

Unjustified Maintenance Fee Increases: Our maintenance fees have been raised without consultation, any accompanying breakdown, or explanation. To date, owners have received only a notification about the increase in monthly maintenance charges, without any additional information or grievance redressal process. 

Lack of Access to the Board: There is currently no clear or accessible channel through which owners can communicate directly with or receive responses from the Board of Directors. Our multiple queries have not resulted in an in-person meeting with the board to date. 

Failure of the Management Company to provide resolutions: The management company has shown a lack of accountability and has offered no assistance in resolving or escalating these concerns. The building manager has provided templated responses without any procedure to escalate and engage the stakeholders in person on an urgent basis.

As co-owners and stakeholders in this property, we believe in transparency, accountability, and responsible governance from our elected representatives. We are entitled to clear communication and open dialogue with those making decisions on behalf of our community.

We are therefore requesting the following:

  1. A formal meeting between the Board of Directors of MTCC1143 and unit owners before May 1, 2025.
  2. A detailed explanation and financial breakdown justifying the increase in maintenance fees and, the process followed to obtain estimates for repairs and upgrades.
  3. Clear communication protocols to ensure ongoing access and accountability from the Board.

We urge the President and members of the Board of MTCC1143 to honor this request promptly and restore trust through transparency and engagement.
