Our Request

  We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the hours of the cemetery gates at Queen of Heaven Cemetery be extended to remain open later in the evening, specifically until 8:00 p.m. during the summer months.

Statement of Purpose

For many of us, the cemetery is more than just a burial ground; it is a place of peace, reflection, and a vital part of our community. However, the current closing time of 6:00 p.m. (or dusk) does not accommodate the schedules of many residents who work or have other commitments during the day.

Extending the hours would provide numerous benefits:

Increased Accessibility: It would allow working individuals and families to visit their loved ones after work, on their own time, and without having to rush.

Enhanced Peace and Reflection: A later closing time would offer a more tranquil environment for those seeking a moment of quiet reflection, especially during the long summer evenings when daylight lasts longer.

Community Connection: For some, walking or spending time in the cemetery is an important tradition. Extended hours would allow more people to continue this practice and strengthen their connection to the history and memories of the area.

We believe that extending the hours to 8:00 p.m. is a small change that would have a significant, positive impact on the lives of many community members. It is a compassionate and considerate action that would better serve the needs of those who wish to honor and remember their loved ones.
