Request CBSE for grace marks and lenient checking in 2026 physics exam
The Issue
As a Class 12 CBSE student, the 2026 physics exam was an overwhelming experience. Not only was the exam exceptionally challenging, but the limited gap of one day for revision between exams made it nearly impossible for us to prepare adequately. This issue is compounded by the fact that it affects all students who faced the same schedule pressure with heavy content across six subjects. The problem was exacerbated for those of us who attempted Set A—the toughest of all sets.
This isn’t just a personal struggle, but a widespread concern among students this year. The difficulty level of the physics exam, combined with inadequate time for revision, placed an immense amount of stress on us, impacting our performance significantly. An exam should assess our understanding and knowledge, not our ability to handle pressure and stress within unrealistic time constraints.
In previous years, there have been instances where students received grace marks and there was a more lenient approach in checking, which acknowledged the challenges posed by such exam schedules. This precedent highlights the need for a similar response this year, considering the circumstances students are facing.
I am calling upon the CBSE Board in Delhi to consider offering grace marks and implementing a lenient evaluation process for the 2026 physics exam. This will not only help manage the stress levels of current students but also ensure that our scores truly reflect our understanding of the subject rather than just our ability to cope with the exam conditions.
By making these changes, the CBSE Board will be taking a fair and equitable action in light of the difficulties faced by all Class 12 students this year. We urge the decision-makers to review and address this matter with the empathy and urgency it deserves.
Please sign this petition to support this request for grace marks and lenient checking, and help us ensure a fair outcome for all students affected by this challenging exam.
