The Issue

As concerned parents of Binfield C of E Primary School pupils, we urge the school to immediately cease using the global platform X to share pictures of our children. The use of platform X raises significant privacy and safety concerns for our young ones.

X is publicly accessible worldwide, meaning anyone can potentially view images of our children. This poses a significant risk, as the school is unable to control or monitor who accesses these pictures. A recent Guardian article highlights that the UK government is even contemplating banning X due to its AI tool, GROK, which has enabled the creation of approximately 3 million sexualised images of women and children in just 11 days. This alarming capability demonstrates the potential misuse of images shared on this platform.

Sharing pictures of pupils on a platform facing such serious concerns heightens the vulnerability of our children. Instead of using X, we suggest Binfield C of E Primary School adopts a more secure, closed platform where parents can access content in a controlled environment. Several schools have successfully implemented this approach, ensuring content is shared only with authorised individuals, significantly reducing privacy risks.

We urgently urge Binfield C of E Primary School to prioritise the safety and well-being of our children by discontinuing the use of X. Let us work together to find a safer alternative that allows us to celebrate our children and the schools achievements without compromising their security.

Please sign this petition to ensure our children’s safety and privacy are upheld.
