Request an immediate pause on high density community development on Route 48 (Case Z-26-1)
The Issue
The residents of Villages of Winding Creek as well as the neighboring communities call for your urgent attention to a pressing issue threatening our neighborhood's very essence. A proposed construction project aims to build 87 residential units next to our homes, on Dayton Lebanon Pike( Rt 48), on the land next to the Centerville Community Church. While we appreciate development, several critical concerns need to be urgently addressed.
First and foremost, traffic safety is a paramount concern. Our community roads are currently not equipped to handle a significant increase in traffic volume. The introduction of these residential units is projected to bring in over 120-180 cars which will potentially lead to congestion, risking the safety of both pedestrians and drivers. According to a recent study conducted by the Traffic Institute of America, similar developments have led to a 30% increase in accidents in suburban areas when traffic implications were not adequately considered.
Furthermore, the impact on our local schools is substantial. Our educational institutions are already operating at near capacity. The influx of new families could overwhelm school resources, affecting the quality of education our children receive. It is crucial to conduct a comprehensive impact study that ensures educational standards are not compromised by this development.
Additionally, the readiness of our community infrastructure to support such expansion is questionable. We urge local planners to conduct thorough evaluations of utility services, public transport capacity, and emergency response systems before any construction begins. Ensuring these systems can support the additional strain is vital for the health and safety of all residents.
We are not opposed to growth and development; however, it must be done responsibly and sustainably. Therefore, we request a temporary halt on the proposed construction until these pressing issues are effectively addressed. Your support can help ensure that our neighborhoods continue to be a safe and thriving community. Please add your voice to ours and sign the petition today.
