The Issue

When we joined the Humber Peel program, we were all very excited for a new career. Since completing our program, we’ve been actively applying for jobs, but the hiring process is taking over three weeks to complete. Additionally, most of us are being offered part-time, casual positions that do not pay enough to sustain our basic needs.

This predicament has become a major source of stress and is taking a significant toll on our mental health. We are reaching out to ACCES Employment to extend financial support for the month of May 2025, as it is crucial for our livelihood and well-being during this challenging transition period.

Humber Peel program graduates, eager to contribute to the workforce and make impacts in Peel Regional Municipality, are facing unexpected delays and financial challenges post-graduation. In light of the situation, extending financial support for one more month can be a vital lifeline.

The economic transition from student to working professional is often loaded with hurdles, and this is being felt acutely among many of us in Peel Region. This one-month support will help us bridge the gap between the end of our educational journey and securing stable employment.

According to recent statistics, the job market's slow recovery post-pandemic still affects new graduates significantly, which aligns with our current experiences. An additional month of support from ACCES can mean the difference between a continuous career journey or facing financial hardship.

We kindly request ACCES to consider this proposal seriously. This support signifies more than just financial aid, it is a commitment to the success and mental well-being of Humber Peel graduates. Please stand with us by signing this petition and advocating for immediate support to secure our futures.
