The Issue

Review Mackenzie Shirilla's Prison Security Classification
Petition to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction
Why I Started This Petition

Justice did not end with the courtroom. It also depends on accountability while an individual is serving their sentence.

Mackenzie Shirilla is serving a sentence of 15 years to life after being convicted of intentionally causing the deaths of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. Since entering prison, publicly reported disciplinary records have documented numerous institutional rule violations.

Prison security classifications are intended to reflect an inmate's conduct, institutional adjustment, and the safety of staff and other inmates. When an inmate repeatedly violates prison rules, it is reasonable to ask whether their current security classification continues to be appropriate.

This petition is not about seeking additional punishment beyond the sentence imposed by the court. It is about asking the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to review Ms. Shirilla's institutional disciplinary record and determine whether her current security classification and housing assignment remain appropriate under department policies.

Families who have lost loved ones deserve confidence that prison rules are enforced consistently and fairly. Correctional officers deserve a safe workplace. Inmates who follow the rules deserve an environment where institutional standards are upheld.

Our Request
We respectfully ask the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to:

Review Mackenzie Shirilla's current security classification.
Consider her publicly reported institutional disciplinary history during that review.
Make any classification or housing changes that are appropriate under Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction policies.
If you believe prison rules should be applied fairly and consistently to every inmate, regardless of public attention, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Together, our voices can encourage a thoughtful review of this matter.
