Request a Referendum for Alberta to Join the USA
The Issue
For over a century, the Western provinces of Canada, particularly Alberta, have felt the heavy hand of exploitation from the East, notably Ontario and Quebec. The sense of alienation and neglect has only deepened with time. My family, like many others here, has a personal stake in this injustice. My father and grandfather fought valiantly in World Wars I and II, believing in a united Canada only to find us marginalized and roped off by policies set in place by Central Canada. This isn't what they fought for. We feel trapped by Pierre Trudeau’s unjust Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which we believe does not serve the interests of all Canadians fairly.
The time has come for Alberta to reconsider its place within the Canadian Confederation and explore the potential benefits of statehood within the United States. Alberta shares economic, cultural, and geographic ties with the neighboring U.S. states. As such, we could significantly benefit from U.S. economic opportunities, security configurations, and trade arrangements.
Seceding from Canada and seeking U.S. statehood can seem like a drastic measure, but it represents an opportunity for Alberta to align itself closer to systems and practices that honor our contributions and reflect our values more accurately. Alberta deserves equal representation, fair treatment, and the ability to self-govern in a manner that reflects our distinct identity and priorities.
Therefore, we call upon the government of Alberta to initiate a referendum to assess the will of its citizens on this crucial matter. A democratic vote will allow Albertans to express whether our future aspirations align with remaining in Canada, or forging a new path as part of the United States.
Sign this petition to demand a referendum on Alberta's future. Let your voice be heard and help shape the destiny of our province for generations to come.
