Request a modern concrete skatepark at Love Civic Center in Paris Texas
The Issue
The current skatepark located at the Farmers Market is outdated and unsafe. Built over 20 years ago, it features prefab metal ramps on a weathered concrete slab. These metal structures are rusting and deteriorating, rendering the skatepark hazardous for all users. A significant gap in the concrete at the base of the quarter pipe only adds to the danger. The mini-ramp has loose welds, making it unstable and risky for skateboarders. It's clear that an urgent renovation is needed to provide a safe environment for the skating community.
A modern concrete skatepark can create a vibrant community space for both new and experienced skaters. Incorporating updated features like a street course with pyramids, stairs, ledges, and rails, alongside quarter pipes, will accommodate a variety of skateboarding styles. This redesign should also include a small flow bowl, around 4 or 5 feet deep, and possibly a new mini ramp. There is an ideal location for this much-needed facility right near the pump track at Love Civic Center.
Skateboarding is more than a sport; it's a powerful medium for youth engagement, physical activity, and community building. Creating a well-designed skatepark can attract competitions and events, boosting local business and community pride. With an increase in skateboarding popularity, especially since it became an Olympic sport, investing in a high-quality skatepark could position our community as a hub for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
Please join me in calling on the local authorities to allocate resources towards the development of a modern concrete skatepark at Love Civic Center. Let's ensure our local skaters have a safe, inspiring place to perfect their skills and enjoy their passion. Sign the petition today to show your support for a new skatepark that meets the needs of our growing community.
