Dear Sir/Madam,

We, the members of the Bavdhan Citizens Forum, write to you with utmost respect and concern regarding the proposed expenditure on building a statue of Shri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. While we hold immense reverence for the legacy of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, we believe that the current decision to allocate funds for this project requires reconsideration in light of pressing civic issues that urgently need attention.

• Wasteful Expenditure: In an era where our city grapples with numerous unresolved civic issues, the allocation of substantial funds for the construction of a statue appears to be a misdirection of resources. These funds could be better utilized to address essential infrastructure and public service needs that directly impact the daily lives of Pune's residents.
• Traffic Congestion: The proposed location for the statue, being on one of Pune’s busiest highways, will inevitably attract crowds and create traffic jams. This will exacerbate the existing traffic issues, leading to further inconvenience and delays for commuters and residents alike.
• Infrastructure Priority: Instead of erecting a statue, we urge the authorities to prioritize the construction of a subway or skywalk to facilitate safe and convenient crossing for pedestrians. This is a high-priority need that will enhance public safety and improve traffic flow.
• Noise Pollution: The highway adjacent to Bavdhan has become a source of tremendous noise pollution, adversely affecting the residents who were promised a serene living environment. We request the installation of sound barriers along the highway to mitigate this issue and restore the quality of life for those affected.
• Operational CCTV, having hospitals with all equipment, MahaDiscom Power Sub-station that will help resolve electricity problems of entire Bavdhan, play ground, public toilet at few places, hawkers zone, proper footpaths and basic amenities that we don't have.

We firmly believe that addressing these immediate concerns will contribute significantly to the welfare and betterment of Pune's citizens. We trust that you will consider our request with the seriousness it warrants and take the necessary actions to reallocate funds towards these more pressing civic needs.
