Restore Faith in America's Voting System
The Issue
We the people of the United States believe in our democratic processes and our tried and true systems as the foundation of freedom in our country. We believe that the democratic process is a peaceful means of reaching a consensus on ideological and political differences and is the bedrock of a just society. We believe that we are a Nation of laws that are justly enacted by the people to safeguard our rights. We believe the United States has, in the years since its founding, evolved a powerful mechanism in our election system for the people to be heard and respected. We believe that in 2020 this system was circumvented.
We the people of the United States hereby demand that the process implemented in the 2020 general election be subject to the full scrutiny of the people and laws of our country. We demand that any attempt to subvert the will of the people on either side, material or not, be brought to light and prosecuted. We demand that the government restore confidence and sanctity to the vote, our vote, and that democracy be safeguarded.
We reject the notion that to question the government is dangerous, to question the vote somehow imperils our democracy. We reject that those in power have the right to deny what is in plain sight. We assert that it is our duty to question power, to challenge institutions and require the government to establish confidence in our election results.
We assert that unity can only be achieved by validating the untried voting process implemented in so many states. It is important to acknowledge the flaws and errors made in forcing such an unproven system on the people of this country. The errors can only be corrected by invoking the robust checks and balances afforded to the people of this country by our Constitution.
We are ready to acquiesce to the election results and move forward as a united nation once confidence in the vote and our democracy are restored. We must work to keep our democracy alive. If we do this hard work we will ensure that "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
