Replace trees felled without Leaseholders' consent

The Issue

On March 31st 2025, Anchor Point's property management company, JH Watson, contracted Oakbrook Services to fell two trees. The contractor reported the reason given was that they were blocking CCTV and that other options had been explored with the conclusion that:

- It's cheaper to take trees down than move a CCTV camera.

- Trimming might cause damage to the health of the trees.

Whilst security is an issue that must be protected, surely an attempt at trimming the trees first would have been a preferable option, as cutting them down is much more damaging to the trees than trimming. These trees not only provided shade for nearby apartments, they were also an important nesting site for birds and contribute to the biodiversity of the local area.

In addition, this action was taken with NO CONSULTATION with the Directors of the Leaseholders group, Bramall Lane Management Company (BLMC). Before taking such drastic, permanent action, the BLMC should have at least been informed and given a choice on the decision made.

Having had the experience of thoughtless management previously, this is not how Residents and Leaseholders expect JH Watson to behave going forward. To compensate for this unnecessary action, we the undersigned call on JH Watson to replace these trees at their own expense, not from the pocket of the Leaseholders. Replacement trees should be at least 10 years old, given that those removed were likely more than double this age.
