Replace The Three R's Sexuality Curriculum in Roaring Fork School District RE-1

Replace The Three R's Sexuality Curriculum in Roaring Fork School District RE-1
The Issue
As parents, we are deeply concerned about the education, the well-being of our children and the preservation of parental rights in Roaring Fork School District RE-1, Colorado. The Three R's sexuality curriculum is not only lacking in evidence-based content but is also embroiled in radical indoctrination, controversial age appropriateness/subject matter, and the District's flawed parental notification & opt-out policy has left most parents unaware of the curriculum's subliminal messaging or of the curriculum in it's entirety. This significantly detracts from the quality and integrity of our children's education and is infringing upon parental rights.
The aim of education should always be to provide children with factual, unbiased, and comprehensive knowledge that they can use to navigate their lives safely and confidently. However, the Three R's curriculum fails to meet these standards. It is crucial that we replace it with a more comprehensive and non-political program that focuses on real-world evidence and data-driven health education. It is equally as important that the District adopt an opt-in procedure for parents as opposed to the opt-out policy that is currently in place. This is the only way the District can ensure parents are truly consenting to their child participating and that parental rights are upheld.
Research highlights how effective, evidence-based sex education can lead to healthier outcomes for students. According to studies published by reputable organizations such as the CDC and APA, students who receive comprehensive sex education are more likely to make informed decisions, leading to lower rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Moreover, health education that is based on facts rather than politics/sociology empowers students with a better understanding of consent, respect, and personal safety.
The Roaring Fork School District has a responsibility to uphold its mission of providing educational excellence. It is imperative that the curriculum reflects the principles of integrity, factual learning, and nonpartisan teaching. By adopting an evidence-based approach, we will not only be ensuring the well-being of our current students but also setting a precedent for educational practices in the future.
We urge the Roaring Fork School District to take immediate action by replacing the Three R's curriculum with a superior, evidence-based health curriculum that serves the best interests of all students and to adopt an opt-in procedure for health/sex education moving forward. Let us stand together for an education system that prioritizes merit, principle and integrity over political indoctrination.
Please join us in advocating for a change that will benefit our children and their future. Sign this petition to show your support for a fact-based educational standard for our schools and for upholding parental rights.
