We are all thankful to Mayor Bart Castleberry, the Conway Chamber, the Conway Planning Commission and City Council, the Conway Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Conway (collectively CONWAY) for our wonderful new Conway Community Center! It is a beautiful addition to our great city! However, we will not be able to use the pickleball courts at the new community center due to the tile-like flooring that prevents the pickleball from bouncing properly and dramatically affects the bounce, direction and play of the ball as well as the overall gameplay. We will not be able to properly play the game of pickleball on this flooring and therefore we will not be able to have our normal recreational gameplay at the new Community Center. In addition, we were hoping to be able to host pickleball tournaments at the new facility, including the Annual Arkansas Senior Olympics Pickleball Tournament.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold any pickleball tournaments at the Conway Community Center on this sports tile flooring due to these flooring issues and the need to have consistent ball dynamics. We are asking that CONWAY replace the current sports court tile-flooring with a solid surface sports flooring like TaraFlex Sports Flooring (https://taraflexusa.com/ used at other multi-sports facilities like Game Time at the Grounds in Cabot. We are also asking that CONWAY please keep the pickleball courts and allow pickleball play at Don Owens indefinitely, or at least until such a time as the new TaraFlex-style or similar seamless sports court flooring is installed at the Conway Community Center.
