Replace Skybrook HOA Board: Demand Transparency, Accountability, and Effective Management

Replace Skybrook HOA Board: Demand Transparency, Accountability, and Effective Management
The Issue
Dear Skybrook Homeowners,
We, the undersigned homeowners, and residents of Skybrook, are writing to formally petition for the removal of the current HOA board members. This petition arises from a series of concerns regarding the board's management practices, lack of transparency, and failure to act in the best interests of our community.
Over the past few years, we have observed and experienced numerous issues, including but not limited to:
1)- Lack of Transparency: The board has repeatedly failed to provide timely and comprehensive updates on important decisions and community matters. Meeting minutes, financial statements, and other critical documents are either inaccessible or inadequately detailed.
2)- Poor Financial Management: There have been questionable financial decisions and expenditures that have not been adequately explained to the homeowners. This includes unexplained budget overruns and a lack of competitive bidding for major contracts.
3)- Ignoring Homeowner Concerns: Many homeowners feel their voices are not heard, and their concerns are routinely dismissed or ignored. This includes lack of response to emails, unaddressed issues raised during meetings, and a general sense of unaccountability.
4)- Violation of Governing Documents: There have been multiple instances where the board's actions have seemingly contradicted the bylaws and covenants that govern our community.
5)- Violation of NC Planned community act: There have been multiple instances where the board's actions have contradicted the North Carolina Planned Community Act.
Given these serious concerns, we believe it is in the best interest of our community to elect a new board that will prioritize transparency, accountability, and effective management. We propose the following actions:
1)- Immediate Resignation: We request the immediate resignation of all current board members.
2)- Special Meeting: We call for a special meeting of the homeowners to be held within 30 days to discuss this petition and to organize new elections for all board positions.
3)- Interim Management: In the interim period, we suggest appointing a temporary committee of homeowners to oversee the essential functions of the HOA until new board members are elected.
We, the undersigned, represent a significant portion of the community and believe that these steps are necessary to restore trust and ensure the effective management of our HOA. We look forward to your prompt attention to this matter and the opportunity to discuss our concerns in an open forum.
