I just found out that my University, Northeastern University, uses discontinued laundry machines that are 35+ years old, which is why they malfunction constantly, fail to clean our clothes properly, and even damage them sometimes. 

Northeastern is wasting water and energy due to laundry machines needing to be re-run, and also due to the machines being outdated and inefficient. When the laundry machines break, Northeastern orders replacement parts online. If they get replaced, Northeastern will likely not have to purchase these, saving them money.

Replacing the machines with newer, efficient models would save both Northeastern and us students a lot of trouble and money.
