As a student in Altoona, PA, I have personally experienced the "Leader in Me" program. Despite its good intentions, it has not provided us with any significant learning or development opportunities. We are not gaining any tangible skills or knowledge from this program. Instead of spending our time on this ineffective program, we believe that a study hall would be much more beneficial.

Study halls provide students with an opportunity to catch up on homework, prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes, or delve deeper into subjects they are passionate about. According to the National Education Association (NEA), study halls can contribute to improved academic performance by providing students with structured time for studying.

In contrast, the effectiveness of programs like "Leader in Me" is questionable at best. A report by EdWeek highlighted that there is little empirical evidence supporting their efficacy.

We urge the school board of Altoona to replace the "Leader in Me" program with a study hall period that will better serve our educational needs and help us become more successful learners. Please sign this petition if you support our cause!
