Replace and Extend Opening Times for Cromane Carpark Public Toilets

Replace and Extend Opening Times for Cromane Carpark Public Toilets
The Issue
The community of Cromane has been asking for a new public toilet facility in the carpark for over 10 years. The current toilet container building is crumbling with rust and is a health and safety concern.
Open times are limited to only barely 5 months leaving visitors and locals without a proper place to use the bathroom when visiting the area - especially our elderly, children, pregnant women and those who need to use the disabled facilities.
Lack of toilet facilities is not only inconvenient but also poses hygiene issues at the beach, and these toilets have been broken into regularly order to access them.
Cromane Beach served as a safe outdoor space for many during the Covid pandemic drawing visitors from around the local area for walking, sea swimming, children playing outdoors, a social distancing coffee at the local coffee shop.
This trend has continued and the community is delighted to share our wonderful space with visitors. There has been a fantastic increase in interest in community events - Cromane Seafest Festival, Darkness Into Light, Christmas Day Swim, Cromane Regatta, Cromane Blessing of the Boats and much more.
We urge the County Council to replace these outdated toilets with modern, accessible ones and extend their opening times to all year round. By doing so, we can ensure that everyone who visits and uses Cromane Beach has access to clean and functional restrooms throughout the year.
