Repeal the RI Seat Belt Law

The Issue

The intrusion of law enforcement into the everyday lives of RI citizens is not worth the possible safety implications of resulting seat belt use. Rhode Island's current seat belt usage rate stands at 80% which negates any urgent need for a law. The 85 dollar fine is outrageous and the effect on the relationship between law enforcement and the citizens of the state will suffer as they enforce the tyrannical statute.
