Repeal RITA and Return Funds to Victims of Predatory Taxation!

Repeal RITA and Return Funds to Victims of Predatory Taxation!
The Issue
For years, the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) has been pillaging my family and our community in Ohio. As citizens of the United States, we already bear the burden of federal, state, sales, Medicare/Medicaid, and social security taxes. However, it is unjustifiable to impose additional taxes on individuals simply because they cannot find work within their own city. This predatory taxation practice is nothing short of highway robbery and discourages many like me from residing in communities that participate in such distasteful politics.
I have personally experienced the detrimental effects of RITA's unfair tax policies. Despite diligently paying my federal and state taxes every year, I was shocked to learn about RITA's existence when I moved to a new city within Ohio for better job opportunities. To my dismay, I discovered that not only was I still obligated to pay local income tax at my new place of residence but also had to continue paying it at my previous address until I officially terminated any ties with that location.
This double taxation scheme imposed by RITA is not only burdensome but also deeply unfair. It disproportionately affects those who are struggling with unemployment or underemployment by further draining their limited financial resources. Moreover, this agency fails to consider the economic hardships faced by individuals who may be forced to move due to job changes or other personal circumstances.
Accordingly, we demand immediate action from our elected officials:
1. Repeal RITA: We urge lawmakers in Ohio to repeal this unjust agency's authority over local income taxation practices.
2. End Double Taxation: No individual should be subjected to double taxation based on their residency history within Ohio.
3. Return Funds: Any funds collected through this predatory taxation practice must be returned promptly and fairly to its victims – hardworking individuals who have already contributed significantly through other tax obligations.
It is time to put an end to RITA's exploitative practices and restore fairness in our local income taxation system. By signing this petition, we demand justice for ourselves and all those who have fallen victim to this predatory agency. Let us stand united against these unfair tax policies and work towards building a more equitable future for Ohioans.
