In 2000, voters in Santa Clara County approved Measure A, a permanent half-cent sales tax to fund Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) transit projects. More than two decades later, this tax continues — without expiration— even though VTA has failed to deliver on its promises.

Instead of world-class transit, we’ve gotten:

• One of the least efficient transit agencies in the country
• Billions in debt with poor oversight
• Falling ridership, even after massive capital spending
• High costs per rider with little public benefit

This tax is hurting small businesses and working families, while subsidizing a system that is broken, underused, and unaccountable.

We are calling for:

• A formal ballot measure to repeal the Measure A sales tax
• A requirement that funds not be redirected to other county programs
• A new focus on public safety, emergency services, and road repair

Enough is enough. Voters deserve a say.
