The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and community members, ask the Village of Woodridge to immediately repair and maintain the neglected bike path along 101st Street between Woodward Avenue and Lemont Road instead of delaying repairs for another four years.

This bike path was originally funded with approximately $536,000 in federal grant money through DuPage County. Continued neglect has created serious safety, drainage, and public health concerns, including:

• Standing water and failed drainage
• Mosquito breeding conditions affecting children and families
• Overgrown vegetation, dead trees, and hanging branches creating safety hazards
• Garbage and debris dumped along the corridor
• Water backing up onto 101st Street and deteriorating the roadway

Residents deserve safe, clean, and properly maintained public infrastructure. We urge the Village to prioritize immediate cleanup, drainage improvements, tree maintenance, and bike path repairs.

Photos below show dead trees, ditches with trees in them. Ditches with lots of nuisance trees plugging the drain pipes with debris. Trees damaged by equipment that shredded them and damaged the bark. Eventually killing them.
