We are petitioning Torbay Council to reinstate public access to the household waste and recycling centre on Sundays 

As one of a very few councils not to fully reopen the tip after Covid, the residents of Torbay are appealing to the council to offer full weekend access once again for residential recycling.

The public service currently available is restrictive to those working full time. It encourages fly tipping and the area has seen a large increase in companies and individuals offering waste management solutions. These companies are not always registered and those that are can be very costly and therefore inaccessible to low income families.

2 weekly waste collection is not sufficient to dispose of general waste created by families if they clear out their attic, do some decorating or just want to get rid of larger waste items that swisco will not take on normal collections.

The tip was always available seven days a week and it is high time it returned to those public access hours.
