My life has been irrevocably changed due to a violent assault committed by security guards two years ago. I was not just another victim; I was a person whose basic human rights were infringed upon while the appointed guardians of justice, police officers, watched on, unresponsive. Left with permanent injuries and a debilitating case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), I continue to struggle with the physical and psychological aftermath. Yet, my case has been closed without a thorough investigation.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, only about 45% of violent crimes result in an arrest, which exemplifies this clear and present issue with accountability within our justice system. The trauma inflicted upon victims is further exacerbated by the unresponsiveness of authorities, thus perpetuating a culture of silence and injustice.
What amplifies this concern is that an estimated 70% of crimes involving security officers go unreported or ignored, as sourced from The Crime Report. This bleak situation underlines the need for urgent reform.
I am calling for the reopening of my case, along with holding accountable all those involved in this inhumane assault. It's about time that the victims of such injustices are not coerced into silence, but rather supported in their hour of need. Justice demands that the guilty are held accountable for their actions.
It’s about seeking truth, demanding human rights, and fighting for accountability. Join me in bringing my fight to the forefront, and drive the message home that justice delayed is justice denied.
Sign this petition to help me fight for the justice I, and many others like me, deserve.
