Reopen the Case Against Live Nation for Astroworld Tragedy: Demand Accountability

Reopen the Case Against Live Nation for Astroworld Tragedy: Demand Accountability
The Issue
On November 5, 2021, ten people — the youngest just 9 years old — died at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas. Over 4,900 attendees reported injuries, ranging from minor to life-altering, during a crowd crush that unfolded while headliner Travis Scott performed.
The event, organized by Live Nation Entertainment, is one of the deadliest concert tragedies in U.S. history. And yet, despite over 500 lawsuits, the core issues of negligence, ignored warnings, and failed crowd control have not been addressed through criminal accountability.
⚠️ Key Facts & Evidence:
10 fatalities: All from compressive asphyxia due to crowd crush.
4,932 injury claims filed, according to court documents.
50,000+ people attended the festival — far beyond safe control levels for the available space and staffing.
The Netflix documentary includes:
Leaked radio transmissions from security personnel begging for help and warning “people are dying.”
Insider footage showing staff overwhelmed and undertrained.
Event safety plans that lacked clear protocols for stopping the show — even after a mass casualty event was declared at 9:38 PM, the concert continued until 10:12 PM.
Past violations: Live Nation has a history of over 200 safety violations at other events in the decade leading up to Astroworld.
Lawsuits revealed that there were only 2 water stations for 50,000+ people in Houston heat, creating dangerous conditions before the crush even began.
Emergency response teams were understaffed and lacked communication tools to coordinate triage and crowd dispersal.
🧾 What We Demand:
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge:
District Attorney Kim Ogg and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to reopen the criminal investigation into Live Nation and all parties involved in safety management at Astroworld.
A transparent, independent review of Live Nation’s risk management policies and its documented pattern of violations.
That Live Nation be held publicly and legally accountable for any proven negligence, endangerment, or criminal misconduct.
The tragedy at Astroworld was not an unavoidable accident — it was a failure of responsibility, planning, and urgency. And it must not be ignored.
We stand with the families of those who died and the thousands left injured or traumatized.
Let us send a clear message:
Corporate power does not place anyone above accountability.
Sign now and demand justice for the Astroworld victims.
