Reopen Park Hall Golf Course for All: No Membership, Just Pay-and-Play

The Issue

I write to you as a fan of golf, but not a fan of the various hurdles put in the way of learning how to play in a comfortable and affordable environment. I purpose we change that I and many others can't afford to join a club and don't yet feel qualified to play at high-cost clubs without fear of judgment. However, there is a solution that lies dormant: the Park Hall Golf Course, which closed in 2011. This old park hall golf course once provided golf for everyone, regardless of status or wealth. Newcomers of golf or those who simply can't afford to join a club were welcome.

We find ourselves in a unique situation, with land that is currently unused and abandoned by the council, which already had a golf club on it. Here lies an opportunity for reintroducing an inclusive and cost-effective golfing facility right in our Stoke-on-Trent community. We propose the reopening of the Park Hall site, with no memberships—simply pay-and-play—with little to no restrictions. For years, Park Hall Golf Course served as a testament to golfing inclusivity in our community, and its reopening would restore that much-needed function and foster a welcoming environment for people interested in golf.

By reopening Park Hall Golf Course, we not only uphold the democratic spirit of our community, but we also stimulate local economic growth. After all, the more people can access golf, the more they spend on golf equipment, food and beverage services, and more.

Let's bring back the Park Hall Golf Course to create a platform for everyone. Help us reintroduce this community asset by signing this petition. Every signature counts and could be the key to providing golf access for all.
