Reopen our community pool in Ruskin, FL

Reopen our community pool in Ruskin, FL
The Issue
Every resident of our Ruskin, FL community is invested in maintaining and using our local amenities. We pay community development district (CDD) fees religiously, fees which have recently surged by 20%. However, despite the escalated costs, one of our cherished community resources—the pool—remains closed. This has become a concerning issue for me and many others who expect access to amenities that our fees are supposed to cover.
The core of the problem appears to be related to the presence of ducks, which have become a hurdle in keeping the pool operational. It is frustrating to see that despite multiple viable solutions proposed by the community, no advancements have been made. For reasons unexplained, Chair Elaine Pennington and Vice Chair Vince [last name unknown] have rejected every proposed solution that could effectively manage the duck issue and allow us to enjoy the pool again. Their continued inaction disregards both our collective voice and the financial commitment every resident makes to this community.
Keeping the pool closed is unjustifiable, especially since we’ve put forward suggestions that include humane and feasible duck deterrence measures that have proven successful in other communities. Suggestions like installing deterrent devices, scheduling regular clean-up procedures, or even hiring professional wildlife management services could solve this problem without delay.
We call upon Chair Elaine Pennington and Vice Chair Vince to reconsider their stance and prioritize the immediate reopening of our community pool. It is upon them to act responsibly and in the best interests of the residents who trust them to manage these amenities.
I urge every resident of Ruskin to voice their desire for change. Our patience and financial contributions deserve better treatment. Sign this petition to demand immediate action and accountability. Your support can make a tangible difference in reopening our community pool.
