Day 168 since the closure of Mersey Community Hospital Emergency Department.

My Grandmother never used the phrase "common sense", instead she would refer to "UNcommon sense" to acknowledge it's scarcity in the world.

In yesterdays ABC news we have a fine example of this scarcity as it was revealed that the Launceston General Hospital is at breaking point, barely coping with the massive influx of patients partially created by the governments irresponsible closure of the Mersey Community Hospital ED Department.

What did they think was going to happen when you strip away the health care of the 2nd fastest growing region in Tasmania?

How many people have already died from the flow-on effects of closing Mersey ED?

How many more will die?

What happens to infectious control measures in an LGH stretched beyond capacity?

Who is accountable for these screw-ups?

Can we have an enquiry into why the Mersey Hospital ED has shut down placing intense stress on its sister hospitals?

Do you feel safe right now?

Enough lies and cover-ups, we demand absolute transparency.

Perhaps Sarah Courtney could start with explaining exactly how she intends to address the shortages of PERMANENT staff for our hospitals.

Show us the recruitment drives. Share with the community any obstacles encountered so we can discuss them together.

In detail, not some vague hand-waving to placate a constituency who are rightly angry about their treatment at the hands of these politicians who have no skin in the game.

Stay safe,

Tasmanian Citizen
