Day 26 since Mersey's A&E shutdown began:

Thank you so much for supporting this petition.

Before going any further I want to express my condolences to the families of patients who have sadly lost their lives to Covid-19 during the NW Tas outbreak.

My heart goes out to all those who have lost their loved ones during this traumatic time.

In todays press conference we learned that another casualty of the NW outbreak is a healthcare worker at Mersey.

This must be disheartening for those working on the Covid-19 ward at MCH but I think they need to be congratulated for their incredible work.

The health ministers words today sounded very familiar, phrases such as "limited to single ward", "contact tracing completed" and "people quarantined".

I wonder if the government will commit the same resources that were expended on Burnie should an outbreak occur at MCH?

Would MCH get a "declutter" and "deep clean"?
Would MCH get staff deployed from elsewhere if needed to keep the hospital running?
Would AusMat come to the rescue?

Let's hope it never comes to this but I feel that their demonstrated lack of interest in the Mersey over the years predicts an answer.

So get on the press conference lives and ask these questions. Let's get some answers.

Thank you to all those people who used their voices (virtual or otherwise) today to keep the Mersey Spirit Alive. It was great to see!

WE WANT OUR HOSPITAL AND ED FULLY SUPPORTED AND SERVING OUR COMMUNITY!

Stay safe.

Warm regards,

Tasmanian Citizen.
