Reopen Keswick Kitchen for Year 13 students
The Issue
We are writing this petition to respectfully raise a concern that will be affecting the upcoming Year 13 students at our school. We have recently been informed that the Keswick Kitchen will no longer be operational for Year 13, and that we are instead expected to walk to the main school for meals or make alternative arrangements such as cooking for ourselves. This decision appears to have been made without consultation with the students who are directly impacted.
It is important to highlight that we have paid the same amount for meals as the rest of the school. However, we are now being asked to spend additional time and effort walking to the main school each day, or to take time out of our already busy schedules to prepare our own food. These options can be challenging, particularly given the demands of our final year, where we are focusing on entrance exams and university applications.
While we understand the school’s suggestion that we use the main school facilities, this does not fully take into account the practical and logistical difficulties we face on a daily basis. Additionally, some of us feel that there are limited opportunities to effectively share our concerns. This situation has left many students feeling that our circumstances have not been fully considered.
We understand that this petition may not immediately result in a change. However, we believe it is still important to express our concerns in a respectful manner and to ensure that our voices are heard. We hope that by coming together, the school will take the time to listen to our perspective and possibly reconsider this decision.
We strongly believe that reopening the Keswick Kitchen for Year 13 would provide valuable support. It would allow us to use our time more effectively, focus on our studies, and feel that our contributions and circumstances are being fairly acknowledged.
