This is not just a road. This is about safety and our community.

The Town of Fort Qu’Appelle is not working in good faith with the RM of North Qu’Appelle to reopen Cemetery Hill Road, and people are feeling it every day. There was an agreement that was  eventually offered from the Town with political motivation. It cannot be accepted.

Families are struggling to visit loved ones at the cemetery. What should be simple and meaningful has been made difficult for no good reason. This road is a key access point for surrounding communities who come into town to work, shop, and support local businesses.

And most importantly, this impacts our emergency services. Alternative routes are not as reliable, and every minute in an emergency situation counts.

Cemetery Hill Road has long been a vital arterial route for Fort Qu’Appelle, offering safe passage and convenience to residents and visitors alike. Its closure not only disrupts daily life but also jeopardizes the safety of the entire community by elongating response times for emergency services.

The promise of road repairs has long been overdue, causing unnecessary inconvenience and risk. We understand that maintenance is required, but closure without a clear scheduled plan for reopening is unreasonable.

We urge the Town of Fort Qu’Appelle to work with the RM to collaborate effectively, prioritize this essential roadway, and communicate transparently with the public about the steps being taken to resolve this issue.
