Reopen Blythe Middle School for 7th and 8th Grade Education in 2025

The Issue

I am an involved citizen deeply moved by the plight of our middle school students in Blythe, California. This petition highlights the urgent need to reopen Blythe Middle School at 825 North Lovekin Blvd for the 2025-26 school year to accommodate 7th and 8th graders.

Seventh and Eighth graders DO NOT belong with elementary students. They need an environment conducive to their particular stage of development. By placing them in an elementary setup, we may be compromising their transition into adulthood.

The Blythe Middle School, now being used by the Palo Verde School District Offices (PVUSD), is in excellent condition, thanks to a comprehensive remodeling before its closure. No major upgrades are required, and the school is ready to welcome students.

We appreciate the work done by the PVUSD offices; however, they have other viable options for relocation, such as the Twin Palms School or the former Palo Verde Headstart. This move will benefit both our middle school students and PVUSD employees.

The town of Blythe, home to nearly 21,000 residents, deserves a middle school facility for its growing young population. Our children's education should never be compromised.

Join us in urging local authorities to take immediate action to reopen Blythe Middle School for the 2025-26 school year. Please, sign this petition and be part of the solution.
