Reopen a 2nd and Charles Store in Laredo, TX

The Issue

I am a resident of Laredo, Texas, where our beloved 2nd and Charles store was recently closed. This store was more than just a retail outlet; it was an oasis for hobbyists like me in a city dominated by bars, car washes, and taco joints. The closure has left us without an essential hub for our interests.

Laredo is the tenth largest city in Texas with over 260,000 residents. Yet we lack diverse recreational options that cater to different interests beyond the mainstream offerings. The closure of the 2nd and Charles store has further limited these options.

This petition calls on Books-A-Million (the parent company of 2nd & Charles) to reconsider their decision and reopen this much-needed store in Laredo. It's not just about selling books or records or collectibles and manga; it's about providing space for community members to explore their hobbies, exchange ideas and foster creativity.

We understand that businesses need to make financial decisions based on profitability. However, we believe that with effective marketing strategies targeting the right audience segments within our community - such as book clubs, comic enthusiasts or vinyl record collectors - this venture can be profitable while serving an important social function.

Please sign this petition if you agree that we need more diverse recreational outlets like a new 2nd & Charles store in Laredo!
