Renew the South Lebanon Historical Society’s Lease!
The Issue
As a long-standing member and ardent supporter of the South Lebanon community, it deeply affects me and numerous others that Mayor Burke and Jerry Haddix, our town administrator, are planning to evict the South Lebanon Historical Society from their location on High Street, South Lebanon, Ohio. This decision undermines the invaluable contributions the Society makes to our beloved community.
For years, the South Lebanon Historical Society has tirelessly organized various novel programs and initiatives that enrich our community experience. The vibrant Banner Program, the heartwarming Christmas for the Children event, July 4th festival, and timely provision of Christmas food boxes for those truly in need, are all testaments to the society's committed service. They've enabled our children to enjoy a visual journey through our town's history, with a trove of beautiful artifacts displayed proudly. Their bake sales - popular and much looked forward to - have been instrumental in raising funds for our fellow citizens in need. Moreover, the Society has provided an invaluable platform for our high schoolers to engage in voluntary service, enabling them to fulfill their graduation requirements while also serving their community.
Evicting the South Lebanon Historical Society represents a real threat to the continuity of these valuable events and the preservation of our collective history. Today, we appeal to Mayor Burke and Jerry Haddix to reconsider this drastic measure and preserve the meaningful connection our community retains with its past through the Society. We urge every resident of South Lebanon, Ohio, to lend their voice to this crucial matter by signing this petition.
