The Issue

Jason Cooke has shown unwavering dedication to our community. His tireless work picking up dogs from the streets and offering temporary care for pets of those who are hospitalized is invaluable. Jason remains on call at any hour, doing everything within his power to save the lives of animals who cannot advocate for themselves. His compassion and commitment have made a significant difference in the lives of countless animals and their owners in the City of Warren.

The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, a vital initiative dedicated to animal welfare, relies heavily on the continuation of Jason's services. His contract with the city is crucial to ensure the ongoing support and rescue operations for the vulnerable animals in our area.

Animals depend on people like Jason, who are willing to step up in times of need, providing care and safety. Jason has built strong bonds within our community through his work, illuminating the path for many who may feel isolated without his assistance, diligence, and tenacity.

It's imperative for the continued well-being of these animals that Jason Cooke's contract is renewed. He is not just a person providing a service—he is a lifeline to many pets and their families. By renewing his contract, we are investing in the safety and welfare of the animals that need his care, ensuring that our community remains a haven for these beloved creatures.

Join us in appealing to the City of Warren to recognize the critical role Jason plays. His contract's renewal is not just a professional need but a community necessity. Let's ensure that our city's commitment to animal welfare remains strong and active.

Please sign this petition to urge the City of Warren to renew Jason Cooke’s contract, and support the continuation of his essential work as dog warden. Together, we can make sure that every animal has a chance at a safe and healthy life.

Thank you for reaching out to me. As a member of City Council, I am aware of the concerns regarding the renewal of Jason Cooke’s contract. I have toured the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project to gain a better understanding of the facility's operations. I understand that the city is currently under a contractual obligation to fill this position with a Local 74 union member. However, I believe a resolution can be reached that benefits all parties and ensures the community receives necessary services, especially in accordance with the Ohio Vicious Dog Law (Avery's Law) taking effect March 18th. There will be a council meeting and a committee meeting to discuss this issue further before the contract expires on March 1st. Thank you again for reaching out and for bringing this matter to the community's attention. Best regards, Tina S. Milner 2nd Ward City Councilwoman Note: The Change.org Civic Engagement Team reaches out to decision makers to let them know about petitions in their community and to help facilitate engagement with supporters. The above was an email response we received regarding this petition.
