I'm writing this with a heavy heart and a strong sense of urgency to address an issue that profoundly impacts not just me, but our entire community. Coach Patrick Dmytriw, affectionately known as Coach D or Mr. D, has been not only a coach but a role model for students at Triangle Math and Science Academy these past 2 years. His inspiring and compassionate leadership extends far beyond the track and the classroom. Personally, Coach D has helped shape me into a better athlete and individual, teaching me the values of perseverance, leadership, and responsibility. His dedication as a coach and mentor is unparalleled, and his absence next year will be deeply felt by everyone.

Coach D encourages growth and fosters a supportive environment that is essential for the development of students, whether that be on the track, in the classroom, or in life. Retaining him is vital not just for the teams’ successes, but for nurturing the future leaders I see in my teammates and myself who embody the values and commitment he exemplifies.

Given his profound impact, it's incomprehensible why the school would choose not to renew his contract. We need to act now to make our voices heard and reverse this decision. Coach D's dedication has transformed lives, brought home countless victories (both personal and through the team), and lifted school spirit to new heights. Failing to renew his contract disregards the remarkable contributions he has made, the value he brings, and the potential for continued growth in his absence.

I urge Triangle Math and Science Academy to reconsider their decision. We need to rally together and remind the administration of the irreplaceable role Coach D plays in our school.
