The Issue

I have been working for Royal Mail for several years, and I have witnessed firsthand the changes and challenges it has faced since it was privatised in 2013. Privatisation was supposed to bring efficiency and improvement, but in reality, it has led to service cuts, price hikes, and a decline in working conditions. Many of my colleagues and I are passionate about our roles, yet we constantly find ourselves frustrated by the constraints imposed by profit-driven motives.

Before privatisation, Royal Mail was not only a national institution but a service dedicated to the public interest. Now, our focus on shareholder profits has negatively impacted service quality. Mail delivery times have suffered, and the community services we take pride in have dwindled. This is not the Royal Mail I joined.

According to a report from the Communication Workers Union, postal workers face immense pressure, and the public pays more for less efficient service (source: CWU). Furthermore, a survey conducted by Citizens Advice revealed that customer satisfaction has decreased, with many users expressing concerns over the inconsistency and reliability of services privatisation (source: Citizens Advice).

Renationalising Royal Mail is not just about going back to the way things were; it's about restoring priorities that serve the people. Other countries, such as France with La Poste, have maintained successful national postal services that are both efficient and committed to public service. We can learn from these models and apply them to rejuvenate Royal Mail.

This petition calls on the UK government to take action. Renationalisation would ensure that Royal Mail prioritises the needs of its customers and workers over profits. It's time we bring back a postal service that works for everyone—one that values its employees and takes pride in serving the nation.

Join us in urging the government to renationalize Royal Mail. Sign this petition to help bring about change that serves the public good.
