Diesel, a loyal and beloved local dog, has left an indelible impression on the residents of Somerville, despite his sad passing earlier this year. Our dog park, a place he frequented with his owner Dennis Devlin, continues to feel his presence. Dennis, acting out of love and grief for Diesel, has been graciously providing generous donations of toys, balls, and bowls inscribed with 'RIP Diesel', continuing Diesel's legacy even after his departure.

Almost everyone who visits Zero New Washington Dog Park knows of Diesel and Dennis. Their story is both a heartfelt memory and a testament to the tight-knit dog lovers community we have here in Somerville, MA. It reminds us of the love and camaraderie we share with our four-legged friends, and the depth of the impact they have on our lives.

In recognition of this, we believe it is fitting to honor Diesel's memory and Dennis' contributions by renaming our beloved dog park to "Diesel Park". By doing so, we will have a lasting monument, a place where Diesel’s spirit can live on, and an enduring tribute for all the joy and positivity he and Dennis have brought to our community.

Diesel's story represents the shared narrative of many of us in Somerville who enjoy and find meaning in this wonderful park.
