Rename the McKay Dee Heart "Failure" Clinic to a More Positive Name

Rename the McKay Dee Heart "Failure" Clinic to a More Positive Name
The Issue
I share this story not just as a plea, but as an urgent call for empathy and understanding. As a current patient at McKay Dee's heart clinic, every interaction is tainted by the stinging words - "failure clinic". The harsh reminder of my serious medical condition every time I receive a call, a letter, or a visit to the clinic is a negative experience that I, and likely many others, would rather avoid.
An environment that should be filled with positivity and hope is instead clouded by a name that symbolizes the opposite. My doctors and nurses are loving and caring, but these sentiments are shadowed by the haunting reminder of "failure." The power of words should not be underestimated - they can be as impactful as tangible aspects of care, affecting a patient's mental and emotional state significantly.
According to the American Heart Association, psychological health is important for the well-being and recovery of heart patients. Positive surroundings, including names, can contribute to this healing process. It's time for the words we use to reflect the care we deliver and the hope we want to instill in every heart patient.
Let's rename the McKay Dee Heart "Failure" Clinic to something less daunting, more encouraging, and reflective of our shared ambition to overcome, rather than surrender to our medical challenges. Please join me in signing this petition and supporting the need for a compassionate change in the way we address those of us living with serious heart conditions.
