William Orten “Ort” Carlton was a vital part of what made Athens Athens. He was a knowledgeable, kind, and loving member of our community. He knew every postal code in Georgia plus many, many more throughout the country. He had a vast collection of knowledge about small town America, local music, and breweries. I can think of no higher honor for Ort than to rename the Athens Post Office after him.
