The KBR Park was originally Chiran Palace. The name was changed to Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park (KBR Park) by the then govt in United Andhra Pradesh in 1998. 

Chiran Palace was built in 1940. The entire palace complex is spread over an area of 400 acre and was given to Prince Mukarram Jah Scion of Asaf Jahi family on his coronation by his father Prince Azam Jah in 1967.

The Asaf Jahi family deserves to have this park renamed after them as it originally belonged to them. The present Chief Minister Shri K.Chandrashekar Rao is the big admirer of the Asaf Jahi family and leaves no opportunity to remember and pay tribute to their contribution to this wonderful city of Hyderabad. Hence, we the people of Hyderabad request him to rename KBR Park as the Asaf Jahi Park.
