As a devoted fan and supporter of Indiana University basketball, I have witnessed the transformative power of legendary coach Bobby Knight. His dedication, passion, and strategic genius put Indiana basketball on the map. Yet, the arena where so many of his victories took place does not bear his name. This petition is a call to rename Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall to Bob Knight Hall.

Bob Knight served as head coach from 1971-2000 during which time he led our team to three NCAA championships (1976, 1981, 1987). Under his leadership, we also won 11 Big Ten Conference titles. His coaching record at IU stands at an impressive 661 wins against only 240 losses (source: NCAA records). These are not just numbers; they are testament to a legacy that has shaped Indiana basketball for generations.

The current name of our beloved arena - Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall - does not reflect this rich history and tradition that Coach Knight brought us. It's time we honor him appropriately by renaming it as Bob Knight Hall.
