Rename Health University to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences

Rename Health University to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences
The Issue
Dear Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu garu,
We are writing this letter to express our concern regarding the change in the name of the University of Health Sciences in Andhra Pradesh.
As you are very well aware, the inception of the university dates back to November 1st, 1986, under the visionary leadership of the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri N.T. Rama Rao. The establishment of the AP University of Health Sciences marked a significant milestone by consolidating various medical, dental, nursing, and allied health education institutions under one umbrella, thus revolutionizing healthcare education in the region.
Subsequently, as a tribute to the pioneering efforts of the late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), the university was rightfully renamed as Dr NTR University of Health Sciences as NTR's foresight and commitment to advancing medical education were instrumental in shaping the institution's identity and legacy.
However, the recent decision to rename the university as Dr YSR University of Health Sciences was made without the consensus of the public or the alumni and the decision was taken unilaterally. While we acknowledge the contributions of leaders to the state, it is imperative to honor the original visionaries who laid the foundation for such institutions.
We firmly believe that reverting the university's name back to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences is not merely a matter of terminology; it symbolizes respect for the ideas and efforts of those who pioneered this noble cause. Moreover, the legacy of NTR's contributions transcends political affiliations and stands as a beacon of inspiration for future generations.
We urge you to reconsider this decision and restore the university's original name in honor of Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Together, let us uphold the values of integrity and homage to our visionary leaders.
