Petition to Rename Harry Reid Airport to Las Vegas International Airport

Las Vegas is a world-class city, a global destination that welcomes millions of visitors from every corner of the planet each year. Our airport should reflect that reality. We propose renaming Harry Reid Airport to “Las Vegas International Airport” to better represent our identity as an inclusive, international hub that serves all people—not just a tribute to one political figure.

In 2021, the Clark County Commission voted to rename McCarran International Airport after former Senator Harry Reid, a decision pushed through by a supermajority of partisan Democrats. While we respect public service, this move prioritized political loyalty over the voice of the people. Las Vegas deserves a name that unites us, not one that reflects the agenda of a single party.

A name like “Las Vegas International Airport” honors our city’s global status, its diversity, and its role as a gateway for travelers worldwide. It’s a name for everyone—locals, tourists, and businesses alike—not a monument to any one individual.
