19 year old Eddie King, a beloved member of our community, was born and raised on Grosvenor Road in Bristol. Tragically, his life was cut short by an act of violence on the very street he called home. On 22 July 2023, Eddie was fatally stabbed on Grosvenor Road. This incident shook our community to its core and left us mourning the loss of a cherished neighbour.

Eddie's story is not just one of personal tragedy but also reflects the increasing problem with knife crime in our city. According to official statistics, there has been an alarming rise in knife crime across England and Wales over recent years (source: Office for National Statistics). Bristol has not been immune from this trend.

In memory of Eddie King and as a stark reminder against violence, we propose that Grosvenor Road be renamed as 'Eddie King Road'. This gesture will serve as both a tribute to his life and an enduring symbol for peace within our community.

We call upon the local authorities in Bristol to honour Eddie's memory by renaming Grosvenor Road after him. Please sign this petition if you believe that no life should be forgotten and every effort should be made towards fostering peace within our communities.

A name change will also symbolise a new beginning towards positive change for our youth.
